As the waste enters the tank from the inlet pipe, the bacteria inside the system starts the process of separating the solids from the liquids. When they are separated, the solids become known as sludge. The sludge travels towards the bottom of the tank and the liquids head towards the outlet pipe. From this outlet pipe, the liquids go through the drain field system. In this system, the liquids are released into the soil through pipes that are buried underground as well. With this effluent entering the ground, the goal is to benefit the soil.
