Pump Your Septic Tank

However large, the fact remains that the septic tank is limited in capacity. Helpful bacteria in the septic tank helps break down solid waste into space-saving sludge, but that only postpones the inevitable. Eventually, you are going to need that septic tank pumped. Let’s be honest: no one wants to be out in the cold or deal with such work during the winter. So, get it out of the way during the fall season when the weather is nice and crisp.

Check and Fix Leaks

You should always be on the lookout for leaks, especially when it comes to your septic system. A leaking septic system can contaminate your soil and underground water sources, exposing you to harmful pathogens and possible legal liabilities. But checking and fixing leaks is especially important before winter rolls around. This is because a small leak in the cold temperatures of winter can cause pipes to freeze and burst. That is not a situation you want to deal with.
